Starting the year off right (Cinnamon Yum Yums)

OK, folks.  Here it is.

The moment you've all been waiting for.

Here is my secret to Life, the Universe and Everything.

It's not 42.

It is the dessert that started it all.  The food that made me (not really) famous.  The reason that I get invited to parties.

It's my recipe for Cinnamon Yum-Yums, formally known as Cinnamon Cream Cheese Cookie Bars. Colloquially called "those awesome creamy cinnamon things".  Occasionally referred to as "Oh My God, you brought them!"

Please, don't think less of me when you see how easy they are.  And please, still invite me to parties.

Cinnamon Yum-Yums
(Sometimes, when I'm feeling ambitious, I make homemade puffy pastry for these.  And occasionally, I use food coloring in the filling; orange for Halloween or green and red for Christmas, etc.)
2 packages crescent rolls
8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 350.  Spread one package of crescent rolls on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish, pinching the seams so that it forms one full sheet of dough.  In a small bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, 1 cup sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.  Spread over the dough.  Top with the second package of crescent rolls, again pinching  into a solid sheet of dough.  In another small bowl, mix together the remaining sugar and cinnamon.  Melt the butter and pour over the rolls.  Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the butter, covering the entire pastry.  Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.  Enjoy the compliments of everyone around you. :o)
